چکیده

s presented in this symposium were written by graduate students in the Univers ity of Hawaii Department of Zoology, 2538 The Mall, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822. the spati al pattern of the population was rand om. Of the remaining three populations, two showed a pattern of agg regation and one showed a patte rn of uniformity. Both sex and age differences were present in burrowing behavior and burrow structure. Juveniles of both sexes construc ted two basic patterns of burrow structu re : mature females and mature nonreproductively active males constructed a similar structure and reproductively active males constructed another. Behavioral differences in burrow defense and social interactions were also observed. All crabs defended their burrows by using one or two defensive behaviors ; a burrow inhabitant either

Objective(s):Skin extracellular matrix, which contains type I and type III collagens, is involved in skin development. The aim of this study was to investigate type III collagen distribution pattern as well as its changes during pre and post-natal skin morphogenesis in rats. Materials and Methods: Ventral skins of Wistar rat embryos at different stages from 10 to 20 gestational day (E10-E20) a...

Comparative Study of Clinical Staging of Oral Submucous Fibrosis with Qualitative Analysis of Collagen Fibres Under Polarized Microscopy

Background & Objectives: Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a condition where excessive deposition of dense collagen fibers occurred in the connective tissue of oral mucosa. An alteration of collagen necessitates an in depth understanding of collagen in oral tissues as no breakthrough studies have been reported. Therefore the aim was to correlate the clinical, functional and histopathol...

The Role of Type IV Collagen in Developing Lens in Mouse Fetuses

Objective(s) Extracellular matrix (ECM) and basement membrane (BM) play important roles in many developmental processes during development and after birth. Among the components of the BM, collagen fibers specially type IV are the most important parts. The aim of this study was to determine the time when collagen type IV appears in the BM of lens structure during mouse embryonic development. M...

Objective(s) Motor deficit and neuron degeneration is seen after nerve transection. The aim of this study is to determine whether a poled polyvinelidene fluoride (PVDF) tube with other supportive strategies can protect the neuronal morphology and motor function after sciatic nerve transaction in rats. Materials and Methods After transection of the left sciatic nerve in 60 male Wistar rats (2...
